Solving Office 2010 crash on startup
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Installed Office 2010, but Outlook, Powerpoint, and Word (Excel, etc OK) would immediately crash on app startup, with Windows finding no help for problem. Downloaded lots of KBs, deleted addins, edited registry, etc. Outlook ran safe OK, Powerpoint & Word wouldn't even run safe.
Noticed that MS Office install, using DVD autostart, defaults to 32-bit version of Office. Uninstalled 32-bit Office, went to 64-bit Office DVD directory, installed 64-bit Office from there, now ALL MS Office 2010 apps start correctly with no registry/addin finagling.
