I purcased MS OFiice 2010 Professional through the MS Home Use Program to replace MS Office 2007.
I received the link and product key via e-mail; I've ordered the CD's but they won't arrive for another 2 weeks.
Several posts indicated that I should uninstall the 2007 version, then install the 2010 version. If I do that, I won't have access to the e-mail for the download.
Should i just install 2010 over 2007, or wait for the CD's?
Wait for the DVD, or download the ISO then write it to DVD for installation. After installation, activate it with the licence key you purchased.

Once Office 2010 is installed & activated using the 'download link' in your 'email', you may choose to remove the earlier version.
Note: Please backup your PST files before removing the previous version (Though not required, as the new installation usually picks up the related files; however is a good practice to cover the risk)

I would just install 2010 over 2007.
I have yet have an issue installing a newer version of office over an other one in over 10 years on 1000's of PCs.
Before you start be sure to make sure you do a backup of all the data and create a Windows Restore point. Depending on your version of Windows, an easy way to make a backup that is easy to restore is to use the Windoes Easy Transfer Wizard.
Why do I install over the older version? The installer is designed to handle it. It will also migrate most of your settings which usually does not happen when you uninstall first. There are also things left behind from previous versions that you will still have.
Thanks for everyone's advice on thids. I'll be installing Office 2010 this weekend, then uninstalling the 2007 version.
I would let the installer remove the older version. When Office 2010 installs it has the option to remove the older version. I find this the best method. Note: You can not have two versions of Outlook installed. To install Outlook 2010, the install must remove Outlook 2010. By letting the installer remove 2007 your setting will migrate automatically.
