Windows 7: Office 2007 - Open - Outlook Data Files

In the office I have several hundred PST files. When I go to File - Open - Outlook Data Files
I can only select one file. Thus it's taking forever just to get through the alphabet... I there a method to open all the data files? I cannot select all - I am forced to choose one by one ...thanks

You can only do it 1 at a time.

Why would you want 100's of PST files. You're scroll bar would go on for ever.

If you just want all the exsisting emails in one place. How about just inporting them?.

In Outlook 2010 I can add more .PST files with:

File > Account Settings > Account Settings
Click on the "Data Files" tab
Click on "Add..."

I would expect Office 2007 works similar.
I'm sure I added more than more .PST file in older versions of Outlook.

What would adding 100s of .PST files do to the performance of opening/using Outlook ?
I don't know, I never had that many.
I also don't know if there is limit to how many can be added.

This is the senior accountant's computer - and he has a folder for every client - I am the one working on adding the files to his new computer with Office 2007. I took him off OE 6.

You are right that's a whole load of folders...is it possible to create a subfolder and move most of the rarely used folders off the top tier? The folders that I am adding are all under Personal Folders. I have no open when I right click to move/copy. I wanted to move them into for example Folder A-F Folder G-M and Folder N-Z.

I'm sure there is a way to import, a pst to a paticular folder.

So in HIS outlook account, Make a sub folder for example "MIKE"

Then using outlooks import wizard. You can browse to to "MIKE" pst folder, then tell it to import folders into The newly created MIKE sub folder.?

Does that make sence?

I don't understand how you have ended up with 100's of PST's. Did you export them from his old outlook? If they were sub folders, Did yo export them individually? If so, You do know you can export ALL his inbox, and sub folders, Makeing only 1 pst file?.

I understand... I will import all into one pst folder / I was simply working to give the accoutant his 'old look' but importing into one pst makes sense. Thanks.

I don't think you understand what i was saying:.

How did you export his mail in the first place? Sounds like you exported all his sub folders indiviually?

If you can, Export His inbox AND subfolders, At once. Which will then create only 1 PST folder.

Then import that 1 pst, and he will have all his sub folders etc etc,
