    Can't Open Microsoft Word Files!

Nope, it didn't work. By "reinstalling office over the existing installation," do you mean by reinstalling the Microsoft Office 2010 trial version? Or reinstalling Microsoft Office Starter? My trial for Microsoft Office 2010 already ended 2 weeks ago. And idk how would I reinstall Microsoft Office Starter? Uh I'm a tech noob here so idk what's a registry cleaner lol sorry!

Ok you go to control panel> programs and features and uninstalk all installed version of microsoft office. Then install the lisenced version of office that you have.

    What is the situation then?

I'm not sure on this but I suspect if you have an expired Office product it will quit functioning.

We can't tell you how to proceed to get a software disk because you have no spec listed...
To better help us to help you would you please add your systems specs? Here's how:SystemInfo See Your System Specs Under System Manufacturer/Model Number add whether it is a desktop or laptop and whether self built. Very important

Log in to Seven Forums and you will be able to transfer the info directly to the specs page in your profile from within the System Info app.

After doing this your specs will be available in each of your posts.
Click on My system Specs in the lower left of this post to see how it should look.:)
Full instructions are in the tutorial.

You can order a recovery disk here. https://sonystyle.custhelp.com/ci/documents/detail/5/66
If you are in the US.
If the Office starter edition was also a trial you will have to buy a license from MS.

There is a free alternative too, Open Office Writer which will open .doc or .docx files. http://www.openoffice.org/product/index.html

The only thing that worked for me was that I had to remove "microsoft security essentials" Make sure you have an antivirus before doing this.
    Go to Control Panel
    Programs
    Select Microsoft Security Essentials
    Click Uninstall
