Office 2010 - any news for us mere mortals

    Hi all
Everything seems to have gone all quiet on the Office 2010 front. It's not yet on Technet and "chatter" on the 'Net seems to have dried up entirely.

Are there last minute problems with it or are MS just waiting until they have finished the W7 "Launch-feest" on Oct 22.

From what I saw a few weeks back Visio 2010 looks good -- can't wait to get my hands on it -- also Project 2010 will be included with the "business" type versions.

I've also got a few ACCESS type apps - I don't really want to mess around with these if Office 2010 is just around the corner.

    Cheers

    Hey Jimbo,
I have been running the Office 2010 Technical Preview for about a month now, and have not had any significant problems, although I use only Outlook, Word, and Excel. Outlook is running through our exchange server without any problems at all. I did load Visio, but have not had any time to play with it as yet. Outlook does have some useful enhancements to make it more efficient. I have had problems with Excel opening files created in older versions (2000/2002). All of the Office programs seem to run faster than 2007 did.

I'm anxious to get the final release and see what they may have changed from what I already have!

    Hi there
great that it seems to work fine - however that wasn't the question - I was hoping to get some indication when people with Technet subscriptions would get the chance to download this.

    Cheers

Switching from office 2003 to 2007 was a pain for me. For now, i will stick to office 07.

    Hi Dinesh,

The switch was often painful between XP and Vista, but smooth between Vista and Windows 7.

The same will apply, IMO, for those switching from 2007 to 2010, There should hopefully be a public BETA in the next few months - I would advise you take a look at this before making a final decision.
