Office 2010 Starter: can't install or uninstall

I've got a Samsung notebook running Win7 HP x64. Office 2010 came preloaded on it. When you click on it it present the options to buy or enter a key for the full prog, or to use Starter for free.

Starter will not install. It goes through all the motions and then errors out after several minutes.

Neither will it uninstall. MS Office 2010 Click to Run is listed in Programs and Features, but the uninstall operation "cannot be completed".

So I'm stuck. I even tried Revo uninstaller, to no avail. I would appreciate any leads on this. I've checked several forums, and haven't come up with a solution yet.

Not clear on this. Doesn't that take me to appwiz again? And if so, there is MS Office and then Click to Run. Do you mean uninstall the main office prog?

I may of misunderstood your post. Let me try again.

You are trying to remove Office 2010 Starter which came with your computer.
The Office that comes installed on a computer is a trial version therefor a time limit. When that time limit runs out you either remove the Office program or buy a key to use the full version.

Now to remove the Office 2010 trial version you must make sure it isn't running in the background.

You could also try removing it from Safe Mode.

    I'm I understanding you correctly.

    This may also help.

This particular permutation didn't offer a trial, but it's the same idea. You either insert a key, buy a key, or "use" (that is, install) Starter. I would like to install Starter, and am only trying to uninstall its failed installation attempts toward that end. But IAC I don't want to take the full office prog off the machine.

Safe Mode sounds like a good idea. Will try.

Once Office trial version that was per-loaded on your computer has been used for its trial period it will not install and work again unless you buy a key.

Let us know if you can get rid of the old outdated Office.

I can't figure this out. In Safe Mode, there was no Click to Run entry, despite every attempt to uninstall it having failed. Back in normal mode, another attempt to install failed again.

About the trial period, you must be right. I had thought that this machine was restored to factory condition, but was confusing it with another machine.

    I'm not understanding you again.
    What does this mean.
In Safe Mode there is no click to run entry
No click to run what entry??
Are trying to remove Office or run Office.

Use the Add and Remove Program just like you would use it in Normal Mode.
Is Office listed in Add and Remove Programs when in Safe Mode?

Did you look through the sites from Microsoft that are in my post #4?

What you are posting makes absolutely no sense.

"Click to Run" is the MS Office Starter prog. There was no entry for it in CP/Programs and features in Safe Mode, whereas it had been there in full mode.
