    Microsoft Word not opening


    Hey, my laptop overheated with Word open and the only way I could shut my computer off was to take the battery out and leave it and my laptop to cool down. When I put it back in my laptop just started running something called 'system restore' or something? It took a few hours to work and now my laptop works normally, except for word. Also I can't open anything to so with word, all my documents etc. So far I've troubleshooted the program, tried to run it by opening 'run' and I've restored my computer a second time but so far none of these have worked!
    Any ideas that don't involve me deleting it and re-installing it? I need to keep my documents.
    Any help much appreciated :)

    Hi there welcome Seven Forums Which version of Word are you using ?

    Go into the control panel Programs and Features

    In the list of installed programs select Office /Word or what ever you have installed Then right click and select repair

    I'm using word 2010. I did what you recommended and it worked, can't believe I couldn't work that one out on my own though....

Hello, I recently ran into an issue where this installation on Windows 7 Pro 32-bit is trying to open up all my programs in Word, they all have the MS word icon as well, so for instance, when I click on Nero, it will try to open it up in word and we get an error because it is not a word file....
