Outlook 2010 - Can't Change "Work Offline" Status

I just installed Office 2010 and setup Outlook. This is a home PC and not connected to an Exchange server. Under the Send/Receive tab, there is an icon indicating "Work Offline". I sent an e-mail to another G-mail account it WAS received. Outlook test messages work. But, I can NOT send an e-mail to another personal e-mail account I have on this computer. Nor can that account send to my primary account.

I want full functionality including the Work Offline icon to respond as it should. Ideas?

No responses, so decided to create a second profile. I now have two, but set up e-mail in second profile. This profile does not have Work Offline, but the first profile still does. I am half-afraid to kill the first profile in fear the Work Offline will appear on the remaining profile.

Are you trying to send a message to the other account on your PC whilst "off line"?

Yes, I guess I was, which was dumb, but I also had that second e-mail set up improperly. I created the second profile and properly set up both e-mail accounts and all works now. This was made more difficult because I already had existing pst folders and getting those in place took a bit for this novice to figure out. My pst folders were on a second drive, and it appears Outlook automatically creates a new folder on C each time you set up an Outlook account.

I may try deleting the first account, but still fearful of the Work Offline problem migrating to my remaining profile.

Don't see why deleting one account will effect the off line working if another ccount. I would guess that off line means jusyt that for all the accounts on one setup. You can't be off line with one and online with another account at the same time, I don't think you vcan anyway.
Just out of interest how do you toggle to offline in Outlook 2010 as i onlyuse Office 2003. Mind you I don't use Outlook anyway full of little foibles. Cumbersome old thing in my book. Windows Live Mail much the better program IMHO.
