    Opening documents in WORD

Until recently, when starting to type the name of a document, WORD always 'suggested' several options even before finishing typing name in full so I could select the appropriate one.

Now it does not do this and I have to enter the full name of a document to open it. Not much help if I am unsure of the exact details. I have to browse to find it.

Please advise what I should do to change this. Thank you.

Hi there .... What version of Office/Word are you using ? ..... Have you tried to do a Repair through the Control Panel ?

    Or a Re-install.

Many thanks for your interest Stephanie.
However I am relieved to say that I have solved the problem although have no idea how a small change I made caused this hiccup in WORD - I am not too PC literate!
I back-tracked in my brain to remember what changes I had made to my settings and recalled that a few days ago, acting on advice in a Windows 7 Tips and Techniques Book, in order to avoid my data being accessed remotely, in Internet Options/Contents/Settings/Auto Complete, I un-ticked the Address Bar option. I have restored this tick and EUREKA all is now OK. But I cannot see why amending an Internet Options setting should have this effect in WORD.
Thanks again for you offer of help.
P.S. Is this problem/solution at all unique and therefore worth posting anywhere on the Forum, If so where?

I suppose Bing desktop search might be the connecting rod,
Because it tied internet search with local search ?
I didn't download and install this windows update says published 6/17/13 Bing desktop v1.3 from the Optional updates world.
I believe this is the third or forth version that has been issued.

Microsoft's Internet Explorer is now tightly integrated into Windows. Making changes to internet options effect more than just surfing the web.
