All docs in library locked ??

    Hi,

I haven't been around for a bit, busy getting all the viruses Norton missed fixed. Grrrr. So now I have a new problem I can't figure out how to resolve. I open files (documents) from Library searches and almost always, when I try to save it the file says "file cannot be saved due to permission error." Also when I open files almost 100% of time I get a "READ ONLY" file. And when I try other functions "file locked by Lisa.

Guess what, people- I don't even know HOW to lock a file or make it "read only" or do anything with permissions. Does anyone have an idea what might be going on here? So often I have to "create a local copy" to merge with the "read only" copy later.

    I am going batty!

Also, when the files are open, they all are grey pages with nothing on them, and they all say "for non-commercial use."

Thanks for any help you can give me...and speak to me like I'm a 5 year old, I am NO computer genius.

    Lisa

Viruses causing Windows Word Doc problems?

    Hi,

Sorry but I don't have a clue as to what viruses I had. Norton worked once for 3 hours, and again while I slept for 6 hours to reassure me all viruses were gone, but didn't tell me anything about what they were.

Can you open the log. Open Norton, click on "History", and the choose "Scan Results" from the drop-down box.

    Upload the log

    Upload a File
Click on the Go Advanced button under the Message box . Scroll down to Additional Options then click on Manage Attachments in the Attach Files sections . Click the Browse button locate the file then click on the Open button . In the Upload File from your Computer section click on the Upload button . Wait until it finishes uploading then close the window . Then click Submit Reply .
