Is Permanent Deletion of An Email Possible in Outlook 2007 & Hotmail

Hi, if a machine is using Outlook Connector with Outlook 2007 to access a Hotmail account, is it possible that an email coming in to Hotmail can then be opened and replied to from within Outlook 2007 and then not appear again in the Hotmail account. (i.e. can the incoming and reply emails be deleted in Outlook 2007 without ever appearing in Hotmail again?)

Lang5184, Welcome to the windows 7 forum.

    Email is forever :)
Most probably not as Hotmail keeps stuff. You have to log onto your Hotmail account directly and then delete the email and empty the trash.

Hi Richnrockville and thanks for your welcome.

I assume your "most probably not" is an indication that you believe Hotmail will keep a copy of all emails, and you have not experienced otherwise?

I don't think this is so.
I believe there may be a "time warp" between writing a reply to the email, sending it and then deleting it, (all within Outlook 2007) BEFORE Outlook Connector has time to synchronise Outlook 2007 and Hotmail.

I was rather hoping that someone out there may have experienced this too.

Lang, don't bet too much money on Hotmail not keeping an archive of your email. Maybe the CIA might have a copy also, that will live forever..

    Hi richnrockville,
well I should imagine that our own GCHQ will have a copy too then, based on the devious dealings that go on between your CIA and our MI5/6 and GCHQ.
You just can't trust anyone these days.

    Still, please think about this.

In order to achieve an Outlook Connector-Hotmail-Outlook 2007 configuration you need to have a POP3 mailbox too (if you want to sync and not just transfer down) so ------

    1 We now have a fred@anemailaddress.com which is through a POP3 ISP.
2 We can now make a connection with our Hotmail account. (MAPI)
    3 Outlook 2007 displays TWO accounts (fred@anemailaddress.com and Fred@hotmail.com)
4 An email arrives in Fred@hotmail.com and I immediately transfer it (drag and drop) to my fred@anemailaddress.com.

Will that email not now be invisible to Hotmail, and allow me to write, send and delete that email, without any activities being recorded in Hotmail?
