Office 2003 and Office 2010 on the same computer

    Hi,

I need to have Office 2003 and Office 2010 installed on the same computer. They won't be running at the same time, but both will be used occassionally so both of them must be installed.

I read somewhere that this is not officially supported but possible.

What's the proper way of doing so? Do I install the Office 2003 first and then 2010?

Is there a way to prevent the setup from running each time I'm switching between the versions? It takes up a lot of time and I think it's unneccessarry.

I want to set Office 2003 as default and I want Office 2010 to start ONLY if I start it manually or I choose to open a file only supported by the new version (like docx etc)

Some people here had reported that this works.

I would recommend installing Office 2010 inside XP mode. This will keep the Office versions totally isolated and will prevent any issues.

Note: XP Mode is included in the price of Windows 7 Ultimate.
