Outlook 2007 crashing at start up

    Hi Everyone,

I am experiencing some issues with my Outlook 2007 program. Recently it started crashing at start up.

After the first crash, I saw the following message -

Which ever option I select Outlook invariably crashes again -

I then attempt to start Outlook from the command prompt with the /safe switch, and see the following -

I then select Yes and the repair process starts -

Even though the repair appears to have gone well when I start Outlook again (after rebooting the computer) I am back at the start...Outlook crashes, if I then try to start Outlook in Safe Mode it crashes again, etc...

In an attempt to further diagnose and fix this issue I have been to the following Microsoft resource -

    Outlook 2007: Troubleshooting Outlook Crashes

From this page I took the advice to download and run the "Outlook Product Stability Diagnostic tool", and the results report is linked below -

If anybody has any suggestions on how to fix this issue they will be greatly appreciated.

    Kind Regards,

    Davo

Hi, check for any entries in event viewer

    Start > Run > eventvwr.exe
Might be something useful. Let us know.

    1. Open Microsoft Word and left top corner you can see the Office Button.
    2. Click on that button and you can see word options.
    3. Navigate to Advanced tab on the left side.
    4. In the Display section search for Show this number of Recent Documents and make it as “0″ (Zero). So that your word cache will be cleared.
Do the same for Excel and all others.
We have other way to modify in the registry also.
    1. Start — > Run — > regedit.
    2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\File MRU

I dont use Outlook so im not sure if these still apply but according to the microsoft help service, this is the way to go.

There are alot of reasons causing Outlook 2007 Carsh. Some of them are listed below.

    3. Problematic Outlook profile
    4. Corrupted Outlook installation
    5. Damaged Outlook data file (PST)
    6. Damaged Windows profile
    7. System specific problems

System specific problems Details- If testing through new Windows profile doesn’t help, the issue could be machine-related. It could occur due to problems like faulty RAM, damaged files, wrong data in HKEY_Local_Machine hive, incompatible software or faulty Windows. So to check this behavior, you can perform steps like using Outlook on a different system, checking Office installation, performing Windows clean boot, replacing the corrupted RAM and other similar steps.

Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 SP2 was the source of the is

    Hi Everyone,

I have found a solution to this challenge. The cause of the issue was the Business Contacts Manager, an optional add on for Office 2007.

I started Word, and Excel, and when I started Excel I saw the message below -

    Followed by...

I then inserted the 2nd Office Installation CD into the computer and clicked on OK. After some time the installation finished (and no dialog was presented to inform of successful installation, or otherwise).

When I started Outlook I was then presented with -

At this point it didn't really matter whether I selected Yes or No, the BCM (Business Contacts Manager) would malfunction with this message -

Checking the Service revealed that it was indeed already running, furthermore manually turning the Service on and then back on again, whilst Outlook was shut down did not help the BCM to start correctly when next I stated Outlook!

Ultimately I made the decision to uninstall the BCM and everything works fine now.

I hope that this helps others who may experience this technical challenge.

    Kind Regards,
