    Another installation is in progress

Getting this error during Office 13 install:

"We're sorry, but we could not start your Office installation. Another installation is in progress. Please try again later."

    Any help is appreciated.

Hello Knukey, and welcome to Seven Forums.

That error means that you currently have something else being installed, and that you cannot install Office until it has finished installing.

If you don't have anything else installing, then restart the computer, and see if you are able to install Office afterwards.

    Hope this helps, :)

    Reboot does not help

I cannot see anything else installing, but I keep getting the error. I get the error when executing this file for the install:

    Setup.x86.en-US_ProPlusRetail_4XXRN-6372F-2MXTG-84Y3R-367T3_TX_PR_act_1_.exe

Open Control Panel & select Programs & Features & scroll down & check to see if there is already Microsoft Office installed. If so, you will have to uninstall it first. Then restart your computer & try the install again.
Office 2013 starts off using the installation disc & then a lot of the installation is done by downloading from MS & installing, so make sure that your internet access is free & not being used.

I have since installed the free Excel reader and it worked fine. Still getting the error trying to install Office 13 though.
