OK, two time zones was great around the invention of the telephone, but I work with people around the world and need to schedule meetings across six time zones. Does anyone know of an add-on I can use with Outlook to help out? Or alternatively, a bloody better calendar product?

That acknowledges the reason for aviation, military and maritime/shipping using Greenwich Mean Time/ZULU time so everyone has a common point of reference. I suppose one can use the Gadgets to add clocks to the Desktop, I have two, local and GMT. This page may help:

I taped a spreadsheet to my monitor, but really want an add-on to Outlook or another calendar program as trying to match free time calendars, move meetings, etc. needs cross-referencing back and fourth across times in multiple geographies. It's just silly to have to a piece of paper to do this. I thought we were done with slide rules and the abacus.

Outlook uses UTC ... I don't understand why you're having difficulty scheduling meetings.

The calendar does not follow the rules though ... maybe that what the issue really is.

Windows Sidebar Clock Gadget

If you don’t want to hover over the time in the Notification Area to see the other time zones, you can use the Clock Gadget in Windows Vista or Windows 7 as well. You can basically add as many clocks as you like all with a different time zone and different names.
◾Windows Vista
If the Sidebar hasn’t been started yet, open the Start Menu and type; Windows Sidebar. Once opened, click on the + icon atop of the Sidebar. From the Gadget Gallery, drag the Clock Gadget onto your Desktop or into the Sidebar.
◾Windows 7
Right click on an empty spot on your Desktop and choose Gadgets. From the Gadget Gallery, drag the Clock Gadget to somewhere on your Desktop.

To configure a time zone, hover on the Clock Gadget and click on the Wrench icon on the right to open the Options dialog. Here you can also choose the design of the clock and add a label.

That's all I can offer - Good luck ...
