clicked "run in 640 x 480 screen resolution" problem

Hello, ill try to be as detailed as possible hopefully this makes sense.
I was fooling around on the microsoft office programs , right clicking/properties, and checkmarking the "run in 256 colors" and "run in 640 x 480 screen resolution" etc.... then after clicking them off, my Windoes 7 theme went to the crappy old grey and black borders.... the real problem is when i Go to control panel/ appearance and personalization/personalization and the page with the themes pop up...... I am able to use the transparency features but when I click on, "window" color near the bottom then "advanced appearance settings" then the picture attached will describe the window is showing the old version... i feel as if there is a compatability issue somewhere causing this problem... i went back to the microsoft office files to make sure everything was clicked off etc. and even deleted the microsoft folder but the problem still consists. any help on when i can do?

This screen is for color and appearance when the Windows Basic or Ease of Access theme is selected Click on an item (element) to see the name and settings - change as desired, click Apply, click OK.

That didn't help at all. It won't let me switch back to the windows 7 theme. It's stuck on the older style like in the picture and I can't select like you said to switch back.
