Just pin Word (desktop) and work with it, they are essentially the same executable file, I have the same thing in my PC even after doing a full clean and uninstall of Office 2010, this also happens on clean installs of Windows.

Take care
This does not happen in my case. I think the problem may be caused by not setting where your Word documents are saved to.
In Word 2013, open a document & select File, then Options & then Save as shown in the attached screen shot. If you have special Word Templates that you use then save those to a named folder as well.

Funny thing... I wonder if this has to do with the Service Pack this office has... or if you have the Service Pack installed... I have the same thing in my settings, and in Programs and Features it shows Word (desktop)... but the rest is fine XD

FerchogtX. In your case & in PrimetimeHero's you previously had Office 2010 installed, which you uninstalled & then installed Office 2013. So I wonder if that is the reason that your Word Documents have ended up that way.

I did not have Office 2010 installed at all & only installed Office 2013.

When office 2010 is uninstalled your existing files must be stored somewhere & are then re-accessible when Office 2013 is installed, so they end up in the wrong area. Although you don't consider this to be a problem, some users seem annoyed by it.

Probably the only way around it would be save all Office 2010 Word Documents to a USB drive, then delete all the Word Documents from the computer, then uninstall Office 2010, then install Office 2013 & copy the USB Word Documents into a folder in your Documents Library.

Does this seem like a solution to you?.

If it works for PrimetimeHero, I guess it will do, in my case, seems that my file assosiations are working as intended, I can pin documents (either on the frequent list in start menu and internally on the apps themselves) and open with word or excel or any other office app...

That or I've probably misread this thread entirely :P

Anyway, that's a good tip, if I run into a trouble with file assosiations or alike, I might try it...

Let's hope he's back to see it, that probably can fix his problems.
Thanks to you for the support :3

EDIT: Wait... now that I re-read this... he said he upgraded to 2013... but, he never told us if he ran the installer over Office 2010, or if he uninstalled Office 2010, and then installed 2013... maybe that's the problem he's facing...
