DragNdrop of a file from a word2013 doc to desktop adds special chars

    Hi,

A .txt file is embedded (via the insert-object option) into a Word2013 document 9 (.docx)
When I try to view the file by double clicking, it looks good. However when I drag and drop the file from the doc into desktop (or any other folder) and then view the file, a new line with special characters is inserted into the file (and it looks like its information on the source file path and the target file path). Example below. also to noted tested with other file extensions and the same thing happens for them too.

    Embedded txt file content:
    test

When I view after drag and dropping it to desktop, the content shows up as (file attached)
      new1.txt C:\Users\578208\Desktop\new1.txt , C:\Users\578208\AppData\Local\Temp\new1.txt test

Is this a known issue and is there a fix to it. It seems this happens with Word 2013

    Thanks

    chitra

Hi 578208, welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Instead of dragging & dropping the file onto the desk top, try right clicking on the actual file in your Documents Folder & use the Send To command to create a Short Cut on the desk top. Clicking on this short cut will go straight to the file in question & open it.
Using this method would prevent any messing around with the file location which is probably what's happening using your method.

I never have any file located directly from the desk top they are all done by the short cut method I have listed for you.
