Windows 7: Word Doc issue?

Doh! Typo:

If you close both Word windows, does Task Manager show no instances of Word running?

My thinking is: you close both visible Word windows, but only one WINWORD process actually exits RAM. As long as that other WINWORD process is running, you won't see two windows open the next time that you double click on a Word doc. The WINWORD stuck in RAM for a while is probably the one that does not show a document.

I've seen something like this in Excel when the personal.xls file is set to show itself. I wonder if there is something like that for the normal.dot file (which holds preferences and can hold macros).

I have a feeling something is wrong with this particular document. Perhaps it was based on a template that had not been cleared first, but then cleared later & a new template over layered on it.

The instances of it in Task Manager show a large file size for a supposedly blank document.

Did you solves this issue?

If not:
  1. Open the doc(s), go to the one that displays the desired text section.
  2. From the Word FILE menu OPEN a NEW > BLANK DOCUMENT. You should now have three instances of Word open.
  3. Select (activate) the SHOW ALL marker (paragraph marker).
  4. Select (highlight) all of the text EXCEPT the very last paragraph marker in the document.
  5. COPY the selected text to the clipboard.
  6. Click on the NEW DOCUMENT instance and PASTE to the beginning of the new document.
  7. SAVE the new document with name/location you wish.
  8. CLOSE all open Word documents.
  9. OPEN the newly created document - is it OK and as expected?
  10. If YES, delete the original file and rename the new file if desired.
  11. If NO (not as expected) then post back here.
