It seems that the version of Office 2013 you have is not a Volume Licence one. Where did you get it from?. Has the licence expired?.
There is reference to Princeton.edu, so do you have the right to use it & if so you might try their IT dept. for help on installation.

I would also think that trying to validate Office15 with an Office >>13<<VLP wont work either

A trial download is exactly what it says it is, a trial. You have the right to try out the program & if you like it & want to keep using it, you have to buy a license. If you don't buy a license in the prescribed time the program will stop working.

You will continue to have this problem until you actually get a valid activation license.

It seems that you are trying to get a Retail version of Office 2013 to activate with a Volume License KMS Client key. Do you have a Volume License for Office 2013 Pro Plus, if so, it should work, if you don't have a Volume License, or are not part of an organisation that has one, like a school, or university, or a business then you will have to buy a Retail License.

Refer to these MS website for details on this.
