MS Works 8 Missing Functions Post-Reinstall

Hello,

To preface, I understand MS Works 8 is a defunct program. That said, I've used it for many years to drag & drop text from articles online to a Works doc because, while retaining some of the formatting, it also sheds a large amount of unwanted formatting without having to specifically delete it (as is necessary with MS Word docs used similarly) but does retain embedded hyperlinks.

Recently, I had to reinstall all my programs after a major crash; including Works 8 from my original disk. Since then I cannot select text (in any amount) from an online article and drag & drop it into Works doc. This includes amounts as little as a single line. Similarly, using a select-copy-paste approach I get a "too much information to paste" error unless I use the "Paste Special" option under the "Edit" drop-down menu which removes all formatting (including hyperlinks). I can still execute all those functions between Works docs and between Works & Word docs.

If anyone has thoughts or suggestions I be very appreciative since the work habits I developed allow rapid & efficient information transfers that are severely degraded by the absence of these functions.

Thanks,

Marshalldoc.
