Well its been postponed until tomorrow, I need to get her a copy because she lost the last one I gave her! lol no worries though.

I'll let you know if it works out okay, but as you said it should work fine.

im not sure if this information helps but just for kicks i tried to install a copy of office xp. during the install i got an error message saying that the installation source was corrupted. any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah, that was the error that I got most often. Use the Microsoft Installer cleaner that I linked to earlier, and that should help that problem.

DNG or Peaches: I'm assuming install worked perfect after a clean install. Seems Office's installation procedure needs some work...
I tried the installer cleaner, still no luck. im about ready to give up. I installed open office just so i can type papers.

Sorry man, I've given you everything that has worked for me short of a clean install. Office seems to have real trouble removing all of it's parts during uninstall, which leads to major problems when you go to install again.

If you really want Office 2010, then I would recommend clean installing. However, if you have a ton of stuff on your comp, that's probably not an option. Sorry I couldn't help.

The re-installation worked like a charm. Thank you DNG for helping me with the installation, and thank you Blackrose for all of your help trying to get it to work before. :)

Your problem may be that you downloaded it from a torrent source. The beta is open to the public, so I would recommend that you download it from Microsoft and try again.

I concur with that. Here is a link to the main Office 2010 page at Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/office/2010/en/default.aspx

I would advice you to remove the previous versions of the MS Office program completely from your computer and then try to install the MS Office 2010 in your computer.

You can uninstall the MS Office from your computer using the below link:
