Thanks for your helpful input, @Thrash Zone.

I don't know too many computer users who use their productivity suites for only "local tasks" without receiving documents from emails or from the internet or from other sources, but I suppose it's possible.

To be clear, I never said or suggested that the "sky is falling".
I merely pointed out that Office 2007 is nearing the end of extended support and that there may be safer alternatives, as part of a comprehensive strategy of safe personal computing practices.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Hi,
I doubt good practice will ever change even in newer suites
Rule #1 is always scan doc's.... from other people that send them too you.
#2 Never open a doc.... from an email account especially office outlook.
#3 Do not use website share this or that to facebook...... with office outlook.
#4 Do not open doc's.... from people you don't know.
Just those 4 rules will cut down on any security risks

Custom Install of Windows 7, how do I fix Office 2007
I have been running Vista but the beast become corrupted and wouldn't run in any way shape or form.
