Outlook 2010 - no pfbackup.exe backup mail folders ? Hi there
on Outlook 2007 it was easy to BACKUP the mail folders (now I don't mean ARCHIVE). Ms had a nice little program called pfbackup.exe which would automatically copy your mail folders to a file.
Archive does essentially the same job BUT DELETES the messages from the active folders -- not want I want at all.
I want a COPY of the mail folders -- I sometimes use the mail on different machines and I can't leave stuff on the ISP's mail server forever.
Looks like I'll have to keep a 2007 outlook system on a laptop and transmit the backup file which outlook 2010 CAN read.
Added - it actually can be done but it's a bit more cack handed
In the account settings you open file location which is xxxxx.pst.
You then select copy
close outlook
then you can paste in your location you want to save the file in.
Outlook can import these messagaes back again (skipping duplicates if required).
Case of RTFM -- but the old ofbackup.exe was simpler IMO as it was done straight from the menu.
Cheers
