    outlook 2003 to windows 7

With my new HP which has windows 7 and Office Home 2007 installed, I am trying to install outlook 2003 alone from my Office Basics 2003 disc. How do I pick out outlook on its own? will the office 2003 overrun 2007 if I let the automatic setup run?

Hi and welcome to the SF,
I have no idea why you want Outlook 2003 when Outlook 2007 is more up-to-date.

However, I have seen my friends install Office 2003 and Office 2007 without any problems. (that's 2003 installed first then followed by 2007) I have never seen it install the other way around, it may work, then again, it may not.

The only thing is that you will have Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007, which, can become quite confusing.

If I were to use Outlook I'd use Outlook 2007
But I'm a Windows Mail person

Maybe it's because he has "Office Home 2007" which doesn't come with "Outlook 2007"

But the answer to your question is yes you can install Outlook 2003 with Office 2007. Just do a custom install when using your Office 2003 disc.

To be honest i won't recommend to Run two different version of Office application on the same computer because. Outlook 2003 usually uses Word 2003 as a E-mail editor so what would happen would be you won't get the full function of outlook. Also you might have lot of issues with it because it tend to have duplicate assembly files that might lead to crash the Program frequently. It best to stick any one version

    Hope this helps

    Hello lollypoppery,
A few questions for you -

Is your Office Home & Student 2007 [ Excel, One Note, Power Point & Word] a trial version? If so do you intend keeping it?

Re your Office Basics 2003 [Word, Excel & Outlook] Does your license allow for another installation of Outlook?

    Hi lollypoppery

I to have an HP and have office home 2007 on it and i did put outlook2003 on it and it works OK. the only problem being that when you start up outlook i am having to sign in with "network password" and up to now have not found away around this also as pointed out outlook can not use word as an editor, but outlook is working fine with me(its better than windows live)
If you decide to buy Outlook 2007 you will have to remove outlook 2003 first as it will not over right it

Thank you for the responses. I do not keep up to speed with the changes to the PC World. I didn't even realize that outlook was nort part of the Office Home 2007 package!

Well with that, I am thinking it's best just to buck up and buy the 2007 Outlook. Bill is stickin in it to me again.
