Try and open Outlook in "safe mode".
How you do this is:
Start-type
run in (search programs and files), click on
run.
When the dialog box opens, type
outlook /safe and
ok. (note there is a space between Outllook and the forward slash).
Outlook should now open in Safe mode.
If Outlook opens without a problem you more than likely have third party programs that are Outlook aware running in the background.
