I have files from win XP word in wps format, how can I convert them to the new office 2007 format so I can open them?

Welcome.

If you have Office 2007 and all the updates I think it has a way to import wps format and converts it to doc when you save. Yep I just checked and it does.

Just open Word like you were trying to find a new file and look at the pulldown menu in thelower right and select wps.
