    Office 2007 not working

I've updated from XP to Windows 7 and I wanted to keep my office of course -> I placed it on an USB.
I placed Office back on the new operating system.
I tried to start Word and it says: program not configured for this OS
I can't find the box anymore with my Office and I can't use the old files configured for XP.
    What should I do?

How do you mean you placed office on the System ? Did you do a fresh install ? You will need to re-install Office not just copy it across from your USB stick.

I did a clean install and placed my old office files on an USB and placed all the office files back when Windows 7 was installed. I know that the easiest option is reinstall, but I can't without a box. I also can't use a trial on the Microsoft site and activate the key (because that's on the stupid box).

Ok this might work but I am not 100% sure I have attached a freeware utility.Run this little program and follow the instructions. you can write the number down after you run the program

    Or download it from here

Download Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder from SourceForge.net

I think that the op simply copied the files and did not actually do an install...

That's what I am thinking too but he might still be able to get the key from his USB stick or from the copy he has copied into windows long shot I know but worth a try.

You can't see the Office key because it is not installed. You need to reinstall Office. You can't just copy it off your old installation. Do you have a disc with Office on it?

He said he doesn't have the disk The only other option I can suggest is that you download and use Office 2010 which you can use for free until October this year sorry.
