SOLVED! office 2007 and/or 2010 file icons corrupt

Corrupt installer databases are to blame. This appears to appen with Office and Adobe pdf products. The installer database contains your .ICO or icon files. Sometimes the icons also mysteriously disappear from the porgramfiles directory as well. I have not found a solution as of yet and this continues to happen after fresh reformats. As for reinstall or repair sometimes these fail due to the corrupt installer database as is the case for me. If this is the case this thread may help you. THe program sugusted by Windows star filetypemanager may help you locate the missing installers and replace the missing file extension icons. With a corrupt installer database though its difficult.

After a recover I reinstalled office and copied all installer files and folders relating to office from the Windows>installers folders or RUN "installer". I now have them backed up so when the decide to vanish I can just copy them back over.
