Help! Can't copy/paste contents of a Word file Help!
I need to submit some work but the University requires that I copy/paste an ethics form to my word file. The problem is, when I open the ethics form, I try to highlight everything, nothing happens! Nothing is highlighted for some reason it's as if some kind of restriction has been placed upon the file. The file is a 2003 .doc file I'm using Microsoft Word 2007 in Windows 7 32-bit.
The ethics form is saved on my desktop and when I open it and click on 'review' then 'Protect Document', 'Unrestricted Access' is the only option checked. The University is not replying to my e-mails so I need your help please!
Please help! | My System Specs |

If copy and past does not work, until we find the solution, can you type snipping tool in search and use that to paste the doucment? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 420 OS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, clean install, upgrade disc CPU Intel Core2 processsor Q8200(2.33Ghz 1333FSB) Quad Core Tech Motherboard Dell Memory 6 gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon 256MB HD3650 Sound Card Intergrated 7.1 Channel Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell SP2009W 20" Keyboard Dell USB Keyboard Mouse Dell Premium Optical USB Cooling Fan Hard Drives 640 GB Serial ATA Hard drive Internet Speed DSL 2.85 |

I've read this interesting article: You cannot open a Word document that uses Editing Restrictions in an earlier version of Word
I followed the steps there so clicking on 'Review', > 'Protect Document', check 'Restrict Formatting and Editing' > then click 'Stop Protection', but this pop-ups up a dialog box asking me for a password, when I input a random one, I get a 'Wrong Password' message. So it seems that some idiot's put a password on the whole file! | My System Specs

Ok, this is like alternative (if it works), right click the document, try open with wordpad, then see will you be able to copy the text. I now this isn't solution, but if you are in a hurry... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Micro-Star International/MS-7529 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x32 CPU DualCore Intel Pentium E2200, 2218 MHz (11 x 202) Motherboard MSI G31M3 V2 (MS-7529) (2 PCI, 1 PCI-E x16,2 DDR2 DIMM) Memory 2 GB DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM Graphics Card nVIDIA GeForce 9500GT 1GB Sound Card Realtek ALC888/1200 @ Intel 82801GB ICH7 Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SyncMaster 2253BW (Digital) 22'' LCD Screen Resolution 1680x1050 Hard Drives SAMSUNG HD322IJ ATA Device (298 GB , IDE) |

Wordpad gives me a warning about some features of this document aren't supported. And indeed, some parts of the file are missing, and when I copy/paste it in a word document, even more parts are missing/not rendered properly.
This a no-go I guess... Edit: I've got a couple of days to submit the file, just hoping I get a reply from Uni, but they haven't to me and other students for few days now. I guess even if I don't submit the ethics form it's their fault anyway since many others are having this problem. | My System Specs

Go with the snipping tool, now. You will be able to correct the problem, later, if it is with Word. Get that paper submitted timely. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 420 OS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, clean install, upgrade disc CPU Intel Core2 processsor Q8200(2.33Ghz 1333FSB) Quad Core Tech Motherboard Dell Memory 6 gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon 256MB HD3650 Sound Card Intergrated 7.1 Channel Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell SP2009W 20" Keyboard Dell USB Keyboard Mouse Dell Premium Optical USB Cooling Fan Hard Drives 640 GB Serial ATA Hard drive Internet Speed DSL 2.85 Help!
