Windows 7, Windows Live Mail and Word 2007 question:

Windows 7, Windows Live Mail and Word 2007 question: Where is my saved doc file?

    I have one problem today:

Using Windows live mail with hotmail account in my windows 7. Get an email from my colleague, there is a doc file as an attachment. I open it by double click the attachment directly. It opens Word 2007. I do some editing in it. During the next couple hours, I click "save" from time to time. At the end, I click "save" the last time and close Word 2007.

    Next, I was shocked.

My purpose is to reply my colleague's email with my input in the document as a new attachment. Now, since I close Word already, I can't find the doc file anywhere in my windows 7. Not even in Word 20007's "Recent Documents".

Do you have any idea where this doc file is?

    Thanks in advance!

You should always save the attachment to a folder first, then open it from there if you wish to edit it, or use the "Save As".

The file is probably located in a folder somewhere in
    C:\Users\(youraccount)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet
    Files\

    "\AppData" is normally hidden
"\Temporary Internet Files" is normally a hidden protected Operating System
    file

You'll have to remove the checkmark (if they're hidden) in Windows Explorer:
Organize - Folder & Search Options - View

    good luck in finding it...

Thanks dnorris. The file is not in the C:\Users\(myaccount)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\ folder. I list all files in there by "type", "Last Modified", "Last Accessed" and "Last Checked". It is not there.

    Thanks! Any thought?
