| Windows 7: Office 2003 Problem in Windows 7 |

Office 2003 Problem in Windows 7 I have successfully installed Office 2003 and have brought it up to date with fixes. Unfortunately this did not fix the problem I faced right from the initial install.
Everytime I start an application, it tries to configure my Office 2003. This is time consuming as I have to cancel the process and wait for the required application to start.
Has any one faced sucha a problem? Did you manage to resolve it? Please tell me how?

When you installed Office did you opt out not to leave the cashed files on your system. If so this could be the problem. You might attempt to reinstall, and when asked to leave the cashed files do so, hopefully that should fit the problem (not always). | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion a4302f OS Win 7 Pro x64, VM Win XP, Win7 Pro Sandbox, Kubuntu 11 CPU AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 640 @ 3.0 Gbz Memory 12GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB, 2x2GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4350 HD Graphics/Audio with 512MB Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays 1. Hi Lee,
Yes the problem started since the frst installation of Office 2003 Professional, when I chose to remove the cached files.
But since then, I re-installed it makinf sure I did not remove the cached files. However, the problem persists. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Sorry Bill!
No I do not have two versions of Office.
Incidentally Lee pin-pointed the root cause of my problem but the problem persists despite a second installation.

I have a strange prob too.
but, mine is with office 2007 pro.
every time I use an app ( excel, word,PPS ) a pop up states "configuring xxxxxx "
all is fine but after I clean up stuff and shut down or reboot and request the app again it always reconfigures.
also, when I look at the installed programs it always shows office reinstalled?

Okay guys, I have not been able to find a fix, however, here is a suggestion; pop over to Microsoft's Office website and check with their Office forum to see if you can find a fix. Since I don't have the problem it has been difficult to test my system.
Even set up a VM with Win 7 then loaded Office 2003, but was unable to get it to do what your problems are. Remove Office 2003 then loaded 2007 still no problems. It might have something to do with a possible update (just can't figured it out).
Good luck. Here's a link
