Hi, is there a plugin for Office 2007 that will allow me to add button commands to the the ribbon?
I know its possible to add buttons to the Quick Launch bar in Office 2007, but that is not what I am looking for.

yes it is, just a bit confusing, and one must be cautious.
there is a plug in called "OfficeCustomUIEditorSetup-RTM", close your office programs, and install the above (i did not look for a link, assumed it will be easy to find, if not i can upload).
run it and browse to your template (we only used it with word).
you should probably google how to use it, it must be built in a bit complicated process. and you might lose your template if you accidently open word while editing the above.

thank you for your help, I did a search, but it appears the "OfficeCustomUIEditorSetup-RTM" method involves coding which I'm not sure I want to get into.
I found something at: Customizing the Office 2007 Ribbon but its not freeware.
It looks like Office 2010 will have the ability to add Ribbon buttons, but I'm hoping there's a way to bring that function to '07.

Now to your problem, and the answer is "YES you can," albeit it is a little bit of work, and it can only be added to the "Quick Access Toolbar." That is the Toolbar located at the very top left corner of your screen. Just go into "Options" and go to "Customize." From there go into "Choose Commands From." Then just click on the commend you want to add the "Quick Access Toolbar," then click on "Add." You have now added a command Icon to the bar.
The Quick Access Toolbar can be moved to the bottom of the ribbon by clicking on the down arrow to the right of the last command button if you are looking for easier access to the Quick Access Toolbar.
You can also create your own ribbon, just read up on that in the help files.
