    Word 2003 CUSTOM.DIC in W7 Pro

    Hi,

Within Word 2003 the CUSTOM.DIC is in a fixed and seemingly unchangable path, so other software can reliably find it.

The path cannot be created so even though I have the data availble in back up I cannot get to it in W7.

    How is this resolved?

If Word 2010 is better than Word 2007 I will be glad to get it.

Does it have the same jump to usefulness of W7 over Vista?

Thanks for the links, printed and much studied.

Still struggling, not specific to W7.

Can you possibly give where Word 2003 CUSTOM.DIC should be found, cannont find */Microsoft/Proof or equivalent W7Pro?

How to add a custom dictionary in Word

Custom dictionaries carry the .dic file name extension. They are generally located in the following folder:
    Boot_Drive\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Microsoft\Proof

In Win7, see the hidden folder AppData, perhaps. It is the corresponding equivelant, generally.
From the same docment that you studied...

Note If you cannot find the custom dictionary in this folder, follow these steps to determine its location:
    1. Start Word on the computer from which you want to import the dictionary.
    2. In Word 2003 and in earlier versions of Word, click Options on the Tools menu.
