    Help Uninstalling Powerpoint Viewer 2007

So, i have been having trouble uninstalling and updating Windows Powerpoint viewer 2007.

FIrst off, my computer has been stuck on 2 updates for office 2007 for the past couple months I have tried manual installation and that didn't work either. The two updates are KB982312 and KB981715.

When I try and uninstall office 2007 related software, The uninstaller fails and I get a message (see attachment)

Along with a few other issues (such as not being able to install photoshop cs5) this had led me to believe that I have a corrupted registry or corrupted registry permissions. I have tried numerous things but am at a loss at this point.

If anyone has any suggestions or has encountered this problem before, I would be very grateful for input.

Suspect this permissions problem can be solved by installing the updates as admin, the same with software installs.

Running as admin makes no difference.

    You might try this tool:
Use the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to remove Office 2000, Office XP, or Office 2003

Microsoft: We recommend that you do not use this utility with 2007 Office system products.

So do a RESTORE Point before using.

Tool is easy to use. After you remove Office 2007 in the tool you should be able to re-install Office 2007.

Ok, so my repair install resulted in a failure message. Looks like it might be time for a wipe and re-install of windows. Thanks for your help guys.

After a little more digging i found a tutorial on how to edit the permissions on the offending keys (i was doing everything except the "owner" tab bits)
