Microsoft Office Professional 2010 Academic Version

I just ordered the academic version of Office Pro. Can anyone tell me how many computers I can legally install one license on? I can't seem to find this info.

Agreed, the terms state that you can install it on a home device and a portable device = 2.

Thanks. That's what I was hoping for. Just out of curiosity, how many computers can a retail version install on legally?

Usually one but sometimes more, it depends on the license designation of the software that you purchased. This designation is shown by the three letters that appear on the bottom right of the license key sticker (e.g. FPP). If you downloaded the software, the three letters will appear in brackets after the words "Product Key" on the download confirmation page. If it's pre-installed then it will have an OEM license (these are your 3 letters). Other examples are (MLK, FFP, PIPC). You can use the new MSLT to check your License designation and view your exact terms. This is useful if you have more than one license installed.

You can also look at the standard terms for a particular product by opening any office 2010 product and going to the FILE menu and selecting HELP. Under Help, look for a little Grey link called "Microsoft Software License Terms" (Bottom Right)

Just got the software today. FYI, the bottom left corner on the back of the box states,
"Licensed for noncommercial use on up to 3 home PCs"
It's good to see that they haven't charged the hefty price for just one PC.

Good to know. Thanks for the update.

The part on the back where it says can be installed on 3 home PCs, has a * next to it. This pertains to the Home and Student ONLY. They are just comparing the products on the back, it is misleading I understand but MS Office Professional regular or academic versions can only be installed on 2 PCs. A home and a mobile device per legal license. And is for 1 user only.
