Windows 7: IMAP folders doesn't sync outlook 2010

Hi there.
I'm using outlook2010 on two computers. Both have the same IMAP Gmail account set up.
When I'm accessing outlook 2010 on my laptop, I receive new headers but these same headers won't show up in my desktop outlook 2010. Since the same account is set up as IMAP no both computers, shouldn't I see the same inbox?

Yes, you should. I had some trouble with Outlook changing my Port numbers when I would select SSL and TLS Authentication, which is likely your issue. Be sure to check the second computers settings so they are the following:

Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - requires SSL:imap.gmail.com
Use SSL: Yes
Port: 993 Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS:smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
Use Authentication: Yes
Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL)
Port: 465 or 587 Account Name: your full email address (including @gmail.com) Google Apps users, please enter username@your_domain.comEmail Address: your full Gmail email address (username@gmail.com) Google Apps users, please enter username@your_domain.comPassword: your Gmail password

I think MS is still working some kinks out with the IMAP intergration so if all else fails you can switch to SMTP in the interim depending on your OS.

Hi thanks for the detailed reply. My settings are as mentioned above on both computers. I think this problems happens on emails that I've clicked on their headers and basically downloaded them. So maybe outlook on my other computer doesn't show the headers of the new emails since they've been accessed?
Still it shouldn't be like that, should it?

I haven't used Outlook in a while, but somewhere in the settings there ought to be something along the lines of "Always leave messages on the server". I just set up an IMAP account for school and made sure to do that in Thunderbird.

If you are using POP 3 if you pop in and get your mail on the one client and you read and delete off the server there is no way for the other client to retrieve.

I'm not using POP3 only IMAP.
Still if one computer access the email header, the other computer won't get that header.

Technically Gmail IMAP is not supported by Outlook 2010 yet. I did read that for POP access they recommend clicking the Advanced tab and checking the box next to "Leave a copy of the messages on the server" but this shouldn't apply to any IMAP accounts. It may be worth experimenting with it since you are loosing access to your Headers though.

I would recommend trying to access an email from the OTHER PC first and then see if the problem replicates itself on your regular PC that you use to access your Gmail.

If all else fails, until a solution comes up, it may pay to just use POP3 for the second computer until Outlook 2010 is officially supported by Gmail.

When I use outlook in my laptop, I get new email headers, when I get back to my PC, I won't get these emails unless I didn't click on the email headers. That's the only time when I can get both computers to have the same emails which is quite stupid.
I think I'll keep the IMAP as it is and won't use the POP3 setting. I hope this will be fixed soon. In Gmail settings there's no option for keeping accessed emails as unread for IMAP so I guess when ever an email is downloaded, it's marked as read and the second computer won't see it.
