    Word Files Keep Disappearing

A Word file of mine keeps disappearing. I can only find it by the list of files recently opened in Word. If I go back to the folder with the file open, I see its temporary version, and that always says hidden under file properties. If I unhide it, it goes back to being hidden once I close it.

This is very frustrating. What is causing this?

    Hi, JamesWright.

Did you originally delete this file? Or did you hide it? How did it acquire its hidden state? Let's try this fix...

    Thanks,

    Self-Hiding Word Files

I did not delete or hide the file. I have renamed it and it keeps happening to the new file as well. It is a Word document, not a system file, but I tried the fix and my computer is already set to show hidden files. The files acquire their hidden state on their own. That's what's so frustrating. I can unhide the file and it goes back to being hidden.

Perhaps you could unhide the file, open it, and copy & paste its contents into a new file?

    Self-Hiding Files

Thanks you Harvey, but that's exactly what I have to keep doing. It's just a band-aid because the new files will eventually disappear as well.

After how long will the new files disappear?
