Though I wonder why did VLC display a message: "Rebuilding your font cache" the first time I tried playing a video.
Last time VLC did that, all my Winamp encoders (or it was, in fact, the resulting encoded music files) were corrupted. Winamp would play them just fine, VLC would crash, WMP would play them without being able to retrieve any metadata, even the duration of the audio clip... Also, transferring songs to my MP3 player made it freeze; on the second try, it would display, for example, a 1 minute song as a 2 minute song instead, and all I could hear after the first minute was silence. Yikes X)
