WMP 12 displays the WRONG album art for songs

I have WMP 12 set to display album art for mp3 files.
If I play one song, the correct album art appears. But then when I play another song, the previous song's album art appears. It doesn't matter if the subsequent songs have their own album art or not.

Today, I opened up WMP and played a song, and the album art from a song I played a couple of days ago came out...even though the song I played today has its own album art.

    What could be causing this?

    Hi,

    Welcome to 7 forums :)

    * Are you using evaluation copy of Windows 7 ?

    * I heard it is a WMP bug in some RC of Windows 7 !!!

Actually, no it's not an evaluation copy. It's the regular version of Windows 7 Home Premium.

Am sorry, then still it may be a Bug with Windows 7. However, it does not seem to occur with all copies of Windows

i have the same problem, came here looking for an answer. I am trying to wean myself of iTunes, but am getting pretty frustrated with the Windows solution. I have album art appearing all over the place in the wrong place. I am pretty sure that Amanda Marshall doesn't look anything like the british rock group Slade, but my media player disagrees.

Also, I have 3 versions of Windows 7, one professional on a sony laptop, one home premium on an HP desktop, and one starter on an acer netbook. All 3 have the same issue. I'll try and update the album art, and the picture i paste on an album will show up on 3 or 4 other albums, totally unrelated. its maddening....

i googled for a solution and found this thread, so i thought i might fill you in

from what i've been able to collect, this bug was already introduced in WMP11

i've experienced it on both XP Pro and Vista Home Premium, so it seems to be related to the software only...

    quite annoying, indeed
