Music on Makes Windows Explorer Freeze For someone who likes to work with music files (mp3 & wav files), here's something that's very annoying. If I want to use Windows Explorer to organize, copy & paste, or delete a file on either my computer's hard drive or my external hard drive, Explorer just freezes (and slightly slows down the rest of the computer), until I shut it down via Task Manager. And even then, it gets hung up in the background, so that I have to force a restart or shutdown when I'm finished.
However, if I'm using a flash drive, I can copy, paste and delete all day long with no hang-ups (go figure).
All of my music files on the hard drives came from my old XP computer, if that's of any relevance.

Hi, and welcome to SevenForums.
I am not sure what could be causing this. I recall having similar problems with .ogg files and other music files with corrupted tags and/or special characters in them, long filenames or just too many files within a single folder (but not on Windows 7, just XP).
I wouldn't want you to run around checking things because I am not sure how I can help, all I can ask is if you're running something like WMP while moving these files, or have the folders included in indexing, that might be causing it. Flash drives (to my knowledge) usually aren't included into indexing.
Anyone else have an idea? | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number Acer Aspire V3-531G OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64 CPU Intel B960 Sandy Bridge (2.2GHz, 2MB L3 cache) Motherboard Intel® HM77 Express Memory 6GB DDR3 Graphics Card nVidia GeForce GT630M with 1GB dedicated VRAM + Intel HD Sound Card Integrated audio with 2xHigh Definition Dolby® v4 speakers Monitor(s) Displays 15.6" HD LED Acer CineCrystal™ (high-brightness 200-nit) Screen Resolution 1.366 x 768 (WXGA) Keyboard Acer FineTip & MultiTouch Touchpad Case Custom Midi Tower Hard Drives 500GB SATA Other Info HDMI, VGA D-sub, USB 3.0, 2xUSB 2.0, RJ-45, 2x3.5mm audio (1x headphones, 1x microphone), card reader 5-in-1, Acer InviLink™ Nplify™ IEEE 802.11a/g/n, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth™ 4.0 + HS |

I did learn a little yesterday about "taking ownership of files," which helped me delete a few extra files from earlier testing. I just need more time to implement ownership across my various subfolders.
Stay tuned. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit |
