    transfering using DOS


    MY w7 pc is not reading my fat32 external HDD, so i am trying to transfer my music fom it using dos, CHKDSK says it is a in fat32 (so dos does read/see it), i do not know the exact commands to enter i know it is

    xcopy h:/music i want to transfer them straight to the desktop, but i do not know how to transfer it from h: drive to c: drive, if someone can give me PLEASE the exact commands to enter, it would be much appreciated, thank you

    If you plug the external drive into another computer, will it see the contents of the folders?

    Post the output of diskmanagement.

    WIN | type DISKMGMT.MSC |ENTER

    Maximize the output.

    Use WIN |type SNIPPING | ENTER
    to open the snipping tool and to take a snip.

    To copy a file:

    XCOPY H:\music\MyFile C:\Backup\CopyFile

    To copy a folder:

    XCOPY H:\music C:\Backup\music /i

    To copy a folder including all subfolders.

    XCOPY H:\music\* C:\Backup\music /s /i
