    Which codecs do you recommend for Windows 7 Proffesional x86 ?

    Why not install only ffdshow and, if needed, manually register any splitters you might need?

    I do, I've had this win7 install since January and haven't found anything I have needed to install a codec pack for yet.

    I agree!

    I also wonder about these codecs. Why and/or when are they needed?

    Since Win 7 came out Oct 2009, I have never encountered any audio issue with audio/visual files.

    Depending on the player you use, you can run almost anything without codec's and codecs can cause all sorts of problems.

Dj Shark - BSOD

Alright, so i just changed the battery. Came back with a "Floppy Disk(s) Fail (40). CMOS Checksum error - Defaults loaded. Warning! CPU has been changed, etc etc etc." I went into BIOS and set everything all over again. For now, let's just assume it's fine. But now, there's another issue; BSOD....

Installed codecs on friday, the day after i installed both the 32 bit & the additional 64 bit Sharkoo7 codecs, my system has crashed every time I use windows explorer. Cant access anything on my system now, not even system restore. Is there any way to uninstall the codecs? Have already...
So I am using Win7 64bit and GOM player to play video files, and decided on Shark's codec pack since I read a lot of recommendations for it. I have used GOM with a lot of codec packs including Shark's but I always somehow end up unsatisfied. Main problem are MKV, rmvb and quick time videos. ...
