Windows 7: Poor video quality (pixelized etc)?

It's a new laptop,

Graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce 310M.

Windows Experience Index rates the Graphics (with Aero) as the lowest 4.9. Yet HD videos get pixelized and with poor quality.





How can I fix this?

Do you have the latest video driver?

I concur on the first suggestion but I would download the Shark007 codec package instead of K-lite for many reasons to include his continuous support and updates and activity on this forum (and his own). Not to mention the fact that Shark007's codecs work like an absolute charm and allow you to play anything you could ever dream of.

Shark007.net - Windows 7 Codecs - WMP12 Codecs (and don't forget to install the additional x64 component if you have an x64 system).

I installed the codec pack and the additional component (although the program itself says it's for 32bit instead of 64 for no apparent reason) and it made absolutely no difference.

i read your comments about the codec, but did you upgrade your video driver?

also, try disabling aero.

Which versions did you get of the 32-bit and x64 components? The x64 component shouldn't say it's for 32-bit. I don't know what that's about.

Disabling Aero doesn't make a difference either. The video driver says it's up to date.
