Can't rip CDs in WMP12 - need help!!! Just started happening this week. When I try to rip a CD, I get this error: The file is already in use. Close other programs that might be using the file, or stop playing the file, and then try again.
There are no other programs running the CD. Anyone know how to fix this or what's going on? | My System Specs |

Check the taskmanager to see what is going on.
Looks like there is some program that interfers..shut down all background programs you don't need ATM and try again.
Or try this instead of WMP: Download | CDex

I'm not too familiar with the Windows. Just enough knowledge to get around I suppose. So pardon my ignorance...but how do you run Task Manager? | My System Specs | | |

But if you see any processes that you suspect to use the file, right click on the process and "End process". But if you end the wrong one, your system may get crippled. In case the system freezes, force a shutdown with the power button of the PC and reboot. Then things come back to order. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

If you cannot get it to work, try the CDex program that SledgeDG linked. That is a good alternate option. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

No go on the task manager - didn't see anything fishy, but to be honest, I don't really know what to look for.
Anything else before I download CDeX? I just think it's weird because I had no issues with ripping CDs before and then all of the sudden it starts having issues. | My System Specs | | Can't rip CDs in WMP12 - need help!!! problems? |
