Media Control Plugin for Media Center - One great thing with Media Center is the all-in-one concept : you have all your pictures, music, videos and TV shows accessible from one remote control. Media Center customization is rather limited. For example, it was not possible to do a fast forward for "non-microsoft" encoded videos. And what about MKV or AVI videos which have multiple audio and subtitle streams? How do you switch between them? What about external subtitle files? This is only a few of the things that this plugin allows. Of course all these features are accessible using the remote control too! FFDshow is pre-configured in current releases to use this plugin but you will need to change the subtitle renderer on the Config TAB of the Settings Application to use ffdshow also.
The above Plugin is recommended by Shark007

The problem is your choice of codecpack. Try the Win7codecs, current version is 1.1.8

Once installed, open the Settings Application, go to the Config TAB,
you'll see an option to turn off Subtitles

Alternative? The KMPlayer. No need of codecs and you can disable subtitles with a right click on the video.

Btw, VLC sux.

Look in the 2nd post, the media control plugin allows you switch them off.

The Media Control Plugin will have no affect on Windows Media Player.

The answer is in the 3rd post down but foreversilent004 failed to see it because I editted the post and added the correct information AFTER he asked for an alternative.

Old Video .MOV files with JPEG or MJPEG: needs WMP codec
Hi, I got video files from a 10-year old (Olympus) camera transferred from my XP to my Win7 (with WMP12) 64-bit machine. The old video files don't seem to play in the WMP12 (Win7), they do play on the XP computer without any problem. With MediaInfo I noticed the video file is a JPEG (or...

CCCP not working very well.
When I play a video with CCCP installed, the audio and video are extremely out of sync. It never did this on Vista. Was wondering if anybody had any ideas why or how to fix it? It's not a huge deal. I can install MPC HC by itself and have it use DirectVobSub as well. Only problem is I have to...
