Custom thumbnails for video files (mkv)

Hi all,

I have some mkv files and I want to have custom thumbnails for them, like some jpg images in the same folder as the videos so Windows will display them as thumbnails in explorer instead of the default WMP icons.

Is this possible?

Thanks all,
Max

don't know about Windows 7, but Thumbnailer Lite works under Vista, and let you set any frame of video as thumbnail

Does win 7 just make random thumbnails for .AVI files? I have episodes of different shows in AVI format, and the first 2 minutes of all of them are the same, yet each thumbnail shows a different part of the beginning sequence. whats up with that? I woulda thought that 7 would just use a screenshot of videos a certain amount of time in. This isnt realy a problem, just something wierd I noticed

It is not random windows shows a thumbnail of the video 5 seconds in, are you sure your not using something else to display thumbnails?

Well im not using any programs to do it, not that I know of anyway. hmmmm.... I guess if it is 5 sec's in then maybe all my shows are a couple seconds apart from each other... You wouldn't know it by watching them

I have AVI files automatically open with VLC, maybe that produces the thumbnails instead of windows doing it. Any thoughts?

I never used VLC, it's better than Media Player Classic?
Can you post a pic of the generated thumbs?

Thanks
