Intermittent video stutter

I don't know if this should go in hardware, drivers, or what, so please feel free to move it to where it should be.

I am experiencing a very mild video stutter, which is to say that it is not a big lag and jump, but looks more like old film on a projector... as if there were fewer frames per second than what is really there. The audio is fine and stays in sync.

I can buffer large streaming videos and usually they play back fine, but if I do other things with my machine, then the stutter will start. I know it is not the source video, because a restart will correct the issue and the same stream will play just fine.
This stutter also effects my screen saver.

I have nVidia hybrid SLI, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M on board and NVIDIA GeForce 9400 card.

They both run between 50C (no load) and 60C (moderate load - World of Warcraft, low video settings).
System RAM never goes over 50%, and CPU's never go above 60C.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if your situation is the same as mine.

I run Netflix and have been having this intermittent stutter problem- every once in a while the video will stop for a second, then continue; not a big deal, but annoying...

What I did was this and it seemed to correct the problem, on my 'chine at least:

Control Panel/Network and Sharing Center/Local Area Connection/Properties/Configure/Advanced/
Choose Green Ethernet (if it exists) and disable
Choose Interrupt Moderation and Disable
Make sure all 'Offload' options are enabled

What codec pack are you using?

I've found the Shark007 Windows Codec Pack to be the most reliable and stable for use with Windows 7.

Silverlight is an atrocious memory-hog and it's terrible technology to boot. I never update it since it caused my computer to have video playback issues in the past.

(just my opinion)

I'm not sure what internet connection and a codec pack would have to do with my screen saver, but thank you very much for your replies, I will look into those suggestions.

Once this 'stutter' starts, it is system wide as near as I can tell and does not go away until I restart my machine.

I have no great love of Silverlight... it had made WoW start crashing, so I rolled it back and presto, no crashes. I waited for another update to Silverlight before I allowed it to be updated, seems to be okay thus far (few months now) no crashes in WoW.

In checking to see if there was a newer driver for my video card, I discovered that it will not let me update the driver for the physical video card, saying something to the effect that there is no such card. However, the driver installation exe is the only thing that cannot 'see' the video card, it shows up in device manager, GPU-Z, etc.
I can (and have) updated the driver for the on-board video.

The BIOS will not allow me to turn off the on-board video and turning off the hybrid SLI does not help either.

Any ideas?
