    Missing jpeg files

Downloaded files as jpegs but can't find them in document folder where I saved them to. If I try to resave same file my original one shows up where I saved it to but then still can't access through documents library.

I have only had this computer and Windows 7 for a few days and today is the first time I tried to download files...perhaps this is part of learning curve. Any suggestions??

Just make sure that it hasn't been downloaded to the downloads folder by mistake. Mines done this before.

Have you checked the Pictures Library? What is the path in the address bar of the save dialog?

Yes, I have checked everywhere. As I noted above, if I go and re-save them, the file path comes up exactly where I want them to go and expect them to be, but when I go back to the documents folders...not there.

IE8. I normally use Chrome but it seems to have an issue with saving the files as jpegs.

Create a folder called meldrum at the root of the data partition E.g. D:\meldrum. Now right click on the folder and create a shortcut to it on the desktop. Now open windows explorer and drag the shortcut to "Favorites" in the left panel till you see the tooltip "Create link in favorites", then release the mouse.

Now just save every file to that link in Favorites. All files will actually be located in D:\meldrum which can be accessed by clicking on the desktop shortcut.

There are other ways of going about this but just see if you can now keep track of where your downloads go.

i use firefox and when i have downloaded a file and im not sure where it went i can click the downloads button in firefox and it opens a window with a list of my previous downloads, by right clicking the file im looking for i get a context menu one of the options being open containing folder .as bill says keep a folder in your favourites, i have several ie pictures music etc and when im prompted where to save to (i have it that way by choice) then its easy ,no navigating to folder destination.

Ok...I somewhat have the problem solved. I downloaded Firefox (based on the previous note) and when I followed the same steps my file appeared exactly where it was supposed to. I went back to IE8 and tried to the same process...again the download path appeared correctly but can't find the file in documents. So, it would seem the problem is with IE8 and not Windows 7. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.
