lock or protect files and folders

hi guys,

do any of you know a way how or if you can lock or protect individual files or even whole folders with a password or other means? intended for a home pc which everyone uses but i do not want the others at home have access to certain files or folders?

You need third-party software. One of the best well-known is "Folder Lock" but it's not free:
